Governor Chepkwony attends the Sixth Annual Devolution Conference in Kirinyaga County
Kericho Governor H. E. Prof. Paul Chepkwony and Deputy Governor H. E. Susan Kikwai,OGW, joined H. E. President Uhuru Kenyatta, H. E the Deputy President Dr. William Ruto, his fellow governors and other dignitaries and stakeholders at the Sixth Devolution Conference at Kirinyaga University, Kirinyaga County. The week-long national meeting will take stock of the numerous milestones that have been recorded in all sectors of the economy in Kenya since the advent of devolution and deliberate on how best to resolve the challenges that still remain. The theme of this year's conference is Deliver.Transform.Measure Thanks to devolution, a lot has been achieved in Kericho in all sectors. As Kenyans mark the sixth year of Devolution, Prof. Chepkwony reiterated his commitment that the County Government of Kericho endeavours to continue rolling out development projects for the good of all the people of Kericho. He noted that a lot of progress had been recorded in Kericho County since devolution was implemented in all sectors including health, water provision, education, construction of roads and other infrastructure, agriculture and urban planning. Kericho County is also represented at the conference by a delegation of County Executive Committee Members, Chief Officer and other staff.
The County Government of Kericho has taken advantage of the ongoing Annual Devolution Conference in Kirinyaga County to market agricultural products from Kericho County. Among the products on display at the Kericho County Exhibition Booth was coffee from the Kipkelion Coffee Mills in Kipkelion Sub County, sweet potatoes and sweet potato products from Kiptere, Sigowet/Soin Sub County and milk from Kabianga Dairies in Kabianga, Belgut Sub County.
On Monday and Tuesday, the booth hosted more than 2000 people who were interested to learn about how devolution has served the people of Kericho County. Among the high profile guests who visited the booth and were received by Kericho Governor H. E. Prof. Paul Chepkwony and Deputy Governor H. E Susan Kikwai, OGW, include Former Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga, Senate Speaker Rt. Hon. Kenneth Lusaka, Senate Deputy Speaker Prof. Kithure Kindiki and Governors H. E. Anne Waiguru (Kirinyaga), H. E. Jackson Mandago (Uasin Gishu), H. E. Alfred Mutua of Machakos County and H. E. Ferdinand Waititu of Kiambu County.
The leaders who visited the booth were impressed by what they saw and congratulated Governor Chepkwony for a job well done in supporting farmers process their agricultural produce. On his part, Prof. Chepkwony assured the people of Kericho that more efforts were being taken by the County Government to enhance value addition of agricultural produce in Kericho and also to seek fresh markets for the products both locally and abroad.
