Kericho under the leadership of H.E Governor Dr. Erick Mutai has made strategic interventions in all the Subcounty health facilities across the county.
Roret Subcounty Hospital in Bureti yesterday reaped the fruits of these strategic interventions by carrying out its first-ever surgical theatre procedure successfully.
The operation was led by the facility’s Medical Superintendent Dr.Collins Kirui assisted by Nurses Rose and Benary, anesthetist Evans, theatre assistants Betty and Naomi, and Biomed officers Daniel and Vincent. In a brilliant display of teamwork, the mothers were ushered into the facility by our county emergency ambulances for emergency delivery and due to complications were recommended for surgery.
The two babies a boy and a girl were named Kipkoech after H.E. the Governor and the girl Brenda after Health CECM Brenda Bii.
The County Government of Kericho continues to equip and operationalize theatres in Fort Ternan Hospital, Ainamoi Sub-county Hospital, Londiani Sub County Hospital, and Kipkelion Sub-county Hospital. The department shall also begin the construction of a surgical theatre in Sosiot Health Centre this Financial Year pending its upgrade to a Subcounty Hospital.
This also comes as the County Government is in the process of constructing a 300 million mother and child unit at the Kericho County Referral Hospital to assist in maternal referrals and supplement the established Andrew Weimys Mother and Child unit at Kapkatet Hospital.
