The South Rift under-19 Talanta Hela Soccer champions, Equalizer FC from Kericho, have left the County for Nairobi where they will participate in the nationwide Inter-County football tournament set to kick off on 3rd to 12th December, 2023.
The 25-member squad was officially flagged off today at the county headquarters by the County Secretary and Head of County Public Service, Dr. Wesley Bor, and Chief Officer in charge of Sports, Mr.Geoffrey Bett.
Kericho Equalizer FC is among 16 teams that qualified to represent different clustered regions in the national tournament, and all eyes are trained on the Ksh. 5 million prize award accompanied by a full-scholarship for the winning team.
Speaking after flagging off the team, Dr. Bor assured the youngsters that the administration of H.E. the Governor, Dr.Erick Mutai was solidly in their support and would stand with them until they clinch the final victory.
According to Bett, the team earlier in August trounced the counties of Nakuru, Narok, Bomet, and Laikipia to lift the South Rift title in Nakuru.
Bett insisted that the Kericho team throughout the training sessions, exhibited high discipline and top-notch football skills sufficient to emerge as national champions.
