The journey of Kericho hosting a medical industrial specialized Public Special Economic Zone as today began in earnest after a successful high-level consultative meeting between the County Government of Kericho and the Special Economic Zones Authority.
The engagements led by Kericho Governor H.E Dr.Erick Mutai and Special Economic Zones Authority (SEZA)Managing Director(MD) Dr.Kenneth Chelule resolved that Kericho will join the leagues of Mombasa through Dongo Kundu EPZ and Nakuru through Naivasha EPZ by the establishment of a 500 acre Kericho EPZ at the Kevoko/Chelimo area after delineation and public participation on the land.
Speaking after the meeting, the Governor revealed that the project once complete will rejuvenate Kericho town by injecting resources worth more than 3 billion creating between 100000-and 250000 jobs restoring the town’s vibrancy, and accelerating its growth as a city.
SEZA MD Dr.Kenneth Chelule while praising the County Government of Kericho for being the first county to donate public land praised the non-dust and cool environment of Kericho as having a high-value proposition for a medical value chain manufacturing a rare combination that will attract investors in their numbers.
