The Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms today paid a courtesy call to H.E. Governor, Dr. Eric Mutai, in his office, as it embarks on a tour of the county to receive views from stakeholders on the implementation of Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) education.
The team led by Richard Githinji made preliminary engagements with the Governor and presented their Terms of Reference.
In his brief submission to the taskforce, the Governor said the roll-out of CBC was done in haste and with total disregard to the input from the key stakeholders and that what the presidential team was doing now, was timely and will go a long way in curing the past mistakes.
The Governor submitted that the existing infrastructure cannot accommodate the growing numbers of grade 6 pupils joining junior secondary and that little has been done to train teachers on CBC.
On the aspect of whether junior secondary pupils should join high school institutions or just stay on at primary level, the Governor held the opinion that it was easy to manage junior secondary pupils at primary level.
