In their push to enhance access to clean drinking water in Kericho County, stakeholders in the water sector, today held a consultative meeting with H.E. Governor, Dr. Eric Mutai in his office.
ictoria South Water Works Development Agency (LVSWWDA), Kericho Water and Sanitation Company Ltd. (KEWASCO) and the Department of Water, Energy, Environment, Forestry and Natural Resources, briefed the Governor on the overall status of various water projects in the county, with special focus on the mega Kimugu Water project in Kericho town.
The team which was led by LVSWWDA Ag. Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Chrispine Juma and KEWASCO Managing Director, Eng. Kibii Siele, reported that the Ksh. 1.2 billion Kimugu water project was set for completion at the end of this month and commissioning expected to take place in December this year.
During the meeting, the Governor called for the fast tracking of construction of a waste water treatment plant in Litein municipality.
According to Juma, the scope of the German Development Bank funded project, include, the expansion and rehabilitation of Itare water project,the construction of a sewerage network and a waste water treatment plant in the town. Show Less...

Upon visiting different sections of the facility including the Radiology and Ren
al Units, maternity wing and pharmacy, the Governor recommended that there was a need for urgent streamlining of the procurement section in the facility so as to have a seamless and uninterrupted supply and distribution of drugs to all the health facilities across the County.
While lauding the positive progress registered in the infrastructural growth of the hospital, the County boss said his administration was focused in the long term to mobilize resources towards the construction of mother-child and oncology centres within the facility. Show Less...
The County Government of Kericho has resolved to drop the framework contracting model being used in the procurement of goods and services.
This was arrived at this evening after a wide consultation
and deliberations during a meeting convened and chaired by H.E. Dr. Eric Mutai, and brought together all departmental directors and heads of directorates.
The meeting agreed to fully embrace and adhere to the E-Government procurement procedures in order to enhance transparency and provide a level ground for contractors and suppliers of goods and services.

Kericho Governor, H.E. Dr. Eric Mutai issued the stern warning today while leading an operation to repossess part of Kericho town d
umpsite which had been illegally acquired and fenced off by a private developer.
Speaking after leading and supervising the stripping down of the fence enclosing the dumpsite, the Governor instructed the Department of Lands, Housing and Physical Planning, to make it public the full list of all grabbed government and public lands including riparian lands in the county within two weeks for purposes of either getting regularized or demolished.
Kericho is grappling with a big problem of solid waste management and besides reclaiming the grabbed dumpsite land, the Governor said his government has embarked on an elaborate long-term strategic partnership with donors geared towards implementing a modern solid waste recycling system. The facility was refurbished and equipped by the County Government of Kericho, and its catchment areas are Kapsoit, Waldai and Ainamoi wards, collecting well over 2000 litres of milk daily.
